Govt allocates a further RM120mil to Syabas to ease Selangor water woes

Govt allocates RM120mil to Syabas

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Saturday announced an additional allocation of RM120mil to Syabas to help overcome Selangor's water problems.
After announcing the launch of the 1Malaysia People's Aid 2.0 (BR1M 2.0) in Ampang, Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said the government had approved the allocation to ensure that the suffering of the people in the opposition-led state was eased.
This allocation is in addition to the RM606mil previously given to Syabas.
"If not for the RM606mil, the water shortage in Selangor would be worse.
"We do not want people in Selangor to continue to be victims, and so the government agreed to add on this allocation," he said.
Speaking before over 10,000 people from Ampang and Pandan parliamentary constituencies, the Prime Minister said Barisan Nasional would continue to fight for the issue but the solution lies with the people.
"I want this matter to be further pursued but when the time comes, it is better that Selangor people make the decision," he said referring to the looming general election. - Bernama
