Info DG says PM resignation statement a hoax

The Information Department director-general Ibrahim Abdul Rahman has denied issuing any statements concerning Najib Abdul Razak’s resignation as prime minister, saying its online systems had been hacked.

The statement, which announced the PM has tendered his resignation, had appeared in the department’s e-Akhbar and e-Press systems and the news was quickly picked up and published on several social networking sites.

In a hastily issued statement today, Ibrahim (left) stressed that Information Department has taken immediate steps to remove the false information from the compromised systems.
