Judge wants Ibrahim Ali proceedings referred to AG

The judge hearing the contempt application against Perkasa president, Ibrahim Ali and a blogger has asked the matter to also be referred to the Attorney General Chambers (AGC).

Kuala Lumpur High Court judge John Louis O' Hara has today asked lawyer Sivarasa Rasiah to handover a copy of the application to the AGC.

NONE"Following this, the matter has been fixed to be heard on March 5 for the leave application," lawyer N Surendran,  (right)who appeared with Sivarasa, told Malaysiakini

It was reported that the application was to be heard ex-parte today.

Sivarasa and Surendran, had filed the application on Jan 17, naming blogger and author, Zainuddin Salleh and Ibrahim as the persons to be cited for contempt.

Zainuddin had allegedly written the disparaging article against High Court judge VT Singham posted on his blog, which Perkasa had attached to its website.

Ibrahim is named by virtue of being an Perkasa office bearer.

The article posted on the Perkasa blog on Jan 7 questions Justice Singham's impartiality based on his rulings, which the author claimed leaned towards the opposition.

It also questioned the judge's views pertaining to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues, also based on the case, noting that the judge was a bachelor.

The comments were made in the context of Singham presiding over Anwar Ibrahim's defamation suit against Utusan Malaysia.
