Muhyiddin: Don’t derail our journey

The deputy prime minister wants Malaysians to help the present government to continue its policies.
JAKARTA: Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the national transformation programme implemented by the government was on the right track and people should not derail its journey towards making Malaysia a developed nation by 2020.
He said the national transformation programme was akin to a locomotive which was already on a track and moving to an accurate destination.
“If it’s already on the right track, why should we do something to derail it. If there’s a glitch we should repair it together,” he said in a speech at a dinner with Malaysians last night.
The dinner was attended by 400 guests comprising Malaysians working in and around Jakarta and Malaysian students from several universities in the capital.
He said, therefore Malaysians should consider the matter wisely and help the present government to continue its policies.
The Malaysian policies which had been introduced by the Barisan Nasional government were also transparent and always improved because of problems encountered during the implementation stage, he added.
“All governments have problems. What is important is on how we manage and reduce the problems. if there are flaws and weaknesses, we rectify,” he added.
Muhyiddin, who arrived here for a two-day working visit, has a tight schedule which include a meeting with the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Hatta Rajasa, today.
The deputy prime minister is also scheduled to open the Jakarta Malaysia Hall which serves a landmark to symbolise the close ties between the Malaysian and the Indonesian government.
At noon, Muhyiddin is scheduled to speak at the Global Movement of Moderates roundtable forum.
