Businessman Iqbal Ameer said that his company Livescape Sdn Bhd has no role in South Korean superstar Psy's performance during BN's Chinese New Year open house function in Penang next Monday.
He clarified that his company had booked Psy for another event - Future Music Festival 2013 - that will be taking place on March 15 and 16 at the Sepang International Circuit.
"We are only organising the Future Music Festival and not BN's event. (BN) has not contacted us (about the event in Penang)," he said.
Iqbal was responding to claims by Malaysiakini readers and some blogs that erroneously linked Psy's Feb 11 appearance at BN's open house in Penang to his company.
Some Internet users pointed out that Iqbal was the son of Ameer Ali, owner of the Mydin hypermarket chain, to justify their claims because the latter was believed to have strong links with the ruling party.

Much of the online chatter about Psy's appearance at the BN event was focused on the artist's fee, forcing BN to reveal that the cost would be borne by event management company Mega Ultimate Sdn Bhd.
Industry experts have estimated that Psy could charge at least RM1 million for a short 30 minute appearance, leading to many discussions on whether the money could be put into better use.
Iqbal was unable to provide an estimate for Psy's fees for the Future Music Festival, which would give an idea of how much he will be paid for the BN event, because the event in Sepang is a joint venture with an Australian firm.
He said that the festival would be held in 22 countries.
“Hence, the fees paid to performers is not for us to determine as it is based on the 22 shows,” he said.
