Yen Yen: I'd love to dance the Gangnam with Psy

Flamboyant Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen today said she would love to dance in the Gangnam style with South Korean pop sensation Psy at the Chinese New Year National Open House to be held in Penang.

“I would love to dance (with Psy) if I had the chance,” she said. 

When asked further  if she can dance in the Gangnam style, Ng (left in photo), clad in a red kebaya, stood up and performed a part of the signature dance, catching many off guard and the press conference bursting  into laughter.

Ng brushed off allegations of BN using Psy to win popularity and in recapturing Penang, saying that BN does not look at Psy’s appearance as a “bid to win votes”.

“Malaysians love to speculate, Malaysians love to jump to conclusions,” she complained, referring to widespread speculation that the government and BN are footing Psy’s bill and wish to win votes through the singer. 

She said we all love to be happy and bringing Psy here would make people happy.

“Do you think Psy is interested in who wins, I don’t think Psy is interested,” she said. 

“(I think) Psy doesn’t want to make himself a (political) tool.”

The MCA Penang chief said with his 1 billion YouTube hits, the coming of the singer to Malaysia would make Penang “famous overnight”.

“Psy would like to come to a place he trusts,  Psy would like to come to a place where the prime minister (Najib Abdul Razak) is so well-known” she said.

Ng added that Psy must have heard of Malaysia doing very well and the country’s premier doing a lot in transformation.

Jokingly, Ng said, “It’s interesting to know that the women and students in the country know that Psy is a man, we can’t live in our own peaceful world.

“I promise you, Psy will dress very well, Psy will make sure he covers himself up,” she said.

Ng was obviously responding to a news report where PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat had mistaken Psy for a female artist and said ‘she’ should cover ‘her’ ‘aurat’ during the performance.
