DON'T RUSH TO SCORE BROWNIE POINTS, NAZRI: Intruders to be charged for murder

DON'T RUSH TO SCORE BROWNIE POINTS, NAZRI: Intruders to be charged for murder
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nazri Aziz is the latest Umno-BN leader to jump on the Lahad Datu bandwagon, warning that the group of Filipino intruders hiding in Lahad Datu, Sabu would be charged for murder.
According to Nazri, who is also the de-facto law minister, the incident was an intrusion not a war.
"This is an intrusion into our sovereignty not a war. Because it is an intrusion, the situation is better dealt by the police,"said Nazri, adding that those caught would be charged for murder.
Two wrongs don't make a right
In the skirmishes between the armed intruders, who claim to be members of the Royal Sulu Army, and Malaysian security forces, eight policemen had been killed. At least 14 of the Sulu gunmen also lost their lives.
While most Malaysians are upset at the intrusion and the violence it has triggered, not all welcome bloodshed as the best or only solution forward.
"There is no doubt that justice must be done especially to our brave police who died in their line of duty. But while we pursue justice with the greatest firmness and speed, we must be aware that the gunmen too have families and their point of view," PKR vice president Chua Jui Meng told Malaysia Chronicle.
"So perhaps such comments from Nazri to score brownie points are not necessary. Let the law take its due course, don't politicize and don't gloat."
