MNLF terrorists must be severely punished, says DPM

The terrorists who intruded into Malaysia and threatened the lives of the people must face the most severe punishment regardless of their background, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

"We don't care who they are. If we know that there are intruders or terrorists, then we won't forgive them. For us, the sovereignty of Malaysia is important.

"For us, the terrorists must be punished with the most severe punishment," Muhyiddin told a press conference in Lahad Datu, Sabah, today.

He said this when referring to former Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) commander Haji Musa, who was shot dead by Malaysian security forces under the Ops Daulat around Lahad Datu.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin announced that the government will give away RM1,000 to each household affected by the operation.

He also announced that the Sabah government will build new houses for the villagers whose houses were destroyed, under the People’s Housing Project.

He said that these are the decisions by the National Security Council, and the security forces and the chief of each village will collect the information about the villagers.

However, he stressed that the qualified people must be genuine Malaysians, provided they have the relevant documents.
