Najib on seven major sins of the opposition

The people, especially Muslims, should reject the opposition, including PAS, in the coming general election because they committed seven major sins, among them allowing the word 'Allah' to be used by non-Muslims and not keeping promises.

Their other sins were allowing DAP leaders to get land in the Lodging Highlands, indiscriminate clearing of forest in highlands and PAS compromising on its own struggle, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, today.

"Tian Chua's sin (PKR vice-president) regarding the terrorist intrusion into Lahad Datu and the unholy political cooperation between PAS, PKR and DAP) make up the seven big sins committed by the opposition.

"If before I announced seven major projects (for Kelantan), today I want to let you know the seven big sins committed by them," Najib said at a "Bekwoh" (Gathering with the People) programme at SM Tanah Merah 1.

Also present were Kelantan Umno chief Mustapa Mohamed, his deputy Awang Adek Hussein, Kelantan MCA chairperson Dr Ng Yen Yen, Kelantan People's Progressive Party (PPP) chairperson Nik Sapeia Nik Yusof and Tanah Merah Umno chief Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz.
More than 50,000 people attended the event.

Najib said previously PAS wanted to turn Malaysia into an Islamic state with Islamic laws but because of political expediency and fear of the DAP, in the end changed its struggle and opted for a welfare state instead.

He said if before, PAS slammed the Barisan Nasional’s  (BN) power sharing concept, now it was doing the same with  the DAP and PKR which clearly showed it would not hesitate to “bend over backwards” just because it wants to be in power.

He noted that the huge turnout at the gathering showed the people of Kelantan were ready to boot out the PAS government in Kelantan in the (general) election.

“We want transformation not reformation. Transformation benefits the people, it is a blessing,” he said.

The prime minister said the government’s holistic approach in administering the country had made it prosperous as proven by economic growth reaching 6.4 percent.

“The BN puts the people first, it is doing everything possible to improve the people’s lives. So trust us to do the best for you,” he said.

He said the coalition was unlike the opposition whose pledges in their manifesto could be deemed as “snake oil peddling”.

“One medicine can cure all illnesses. Do we want to vote for people with glib tongues, elections are for the people to choose the government that can truly serve them.

“So place your confidence in the BN,” he said.

Najib also said his presence to perform the ground-breaking ceremony for a People’s Housing Project in Wakaf Mek Zainab, Kota Baru later this afternoon reflected his transparency to the people in line with the BN’s ‘Janji Ditepati’ (Promises Fulfilled) slogan.
