SCORPENE-ALTANTUYA LINK? Phone call threat to splash acid on the face of SUARAM's Nalini, staff

SCORPENE-ALTANTUYA LINK? Phone call threat to splash acid on the face of SUARAM's Nalini, staff
Malaysian NGO SUARAM has received a threat from an unknown person threatening to splash acid on the face of Executive Director, Nalini Elumalai.
"SUARAM is in fear of the safety of the staff and as such," the NGO said in a statement.
It has called a press conference for this evening where it will reveal further details. The threat was made via a phone call received around 1.15pm.
SUARAM will lodge a police report  to safeguard its staff.
Scorpene and Altantuya connection
The NGO is one of the largest in the country and best known for filing a complaint with the parisian authorities against DCNS, the French naval firm that sold 2 Scorpene submarines to the Malaysia government for a pricey RM7.3bil.
In the complaint, it wants the Parisian authorities to probe DCNS for having allegedly bribed top Malaysian officials to go ahead with the purchase even though both the submarines are no suitable for use to patrol Malaysia's shallow coastline.
Prime Minister Najib Razak has been accused as being the main recipient of the illegal kickbacks paid by DCNS. Adding controversy to the Scorpene corruption scandal is the murder of Altantuya Shaaribuu in 2006.
The 28-year-old Mongolian was the lover of Razak Baginda, Najib's close aide who had been part of the negotiating team for the Scorpene purchase. She was killed by 2 of Najib's former bodyguards.
One of the bodyguards had claimed in his statement to the police that he was offered between RM50,000 to RM100,000 to kill Altantuya, who was blackmailing Baginda.
Rosmah biography released just a day ago
There has been red-hot speculation that the instruction to kill may have come from people close to Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor. However, in her just released biography, Rosmah has denied any links, insisting she had an alibi at the time Altantuya was being killed.
“I was at the Tabung Haji building from evening till midnight. There were many eyewitnesses there,” she says on page 140 of the biography which is on sale for RM150.
“I will run even if a lizard falls in front of me. I am also afraid of the dark. What more me climbing a hill at the place of murder?”
Rosmah also said she had been “questioned” for six hours in Bukit Aman (the police headquarters) as a result of the “slander” against her.
