Two suspects detained for alleged links with Sulu gunmen

SEMPORNA, March 15 — Two men, who are believed to have collaborated with the Sulu armed group in Sabah, were detained by Bukit Aman police in Semporna, last night.
Semporna police chief DSP Mohd Firdaus Francis Abdullah said during the 8pm raid, the two suspects, both in their 40s, were detained after receiving information from members of the public.
“The two are believed to have collaborated with the terrorists and we have taken them in for questioning,” he said when contacted, here, today.
He said police were investigating whether the two suspects had links with the ambush on security forces in Kampung Simunul, on March 2.
Asked about claims from the locals that many illegal immigrants were leaving Semporna, Mohd Firdaus said police would carry out investigations to ensure no militants escape from Semporna. — Bernama
