Are police shielding MIC leaders - PKR slams "unfair & unprofessional" MURDER PROBE
VIDEO INSERTED UPDATE2 PETALING JAYA - PKR leader Vasantha Kumar slammed the police for "unfair and unprofessional investigation" into the murder of his campaign aide, accusing them of shielding BN leaders including MIC MP for Tapan M Saravanan.
Vasantha, who contested the parliamentary seat against Saravanan, wants the police to be transparent and stop their alleged stonewalling into the probe into the murder. He also wants Home Minister Zahid Hamidi to respond to the victim's family.
"This is a public interest case. Murugan was my aide in charge of security and organised a ceramah in Taman Sri Bidor in the run-up to the general election. His family believes he was killed because he was a threat to the BN. His mother lodged a police just a day ago to put on record the conversation he had with his father and how he had told his father he had received death threats on his mobile phone," Vasantha told a press conference on Friday.
His aide K Murugan, 36, had disappeared on May 1 and his body found three days later, floating in a pond near Batu Gajah, Perak.
According to Vasantha, the police told him they have questioned a total of 22 people so far. Two suspects have been identified, one of whom - allegedly a BN worker - had fled to Indonesia.
"These are all from the Pakatan side. The police only interviewed his Pakatan colleagues but no one from the BN side or from Saravanan's side has been called up, why?" said Vasantha.
"One of the suspects was from Pakatan. They remanded him for 6 days but could not find any evidence. The other fled to Indonesia. Why cannot the police call their counterparts in idonesia to arrest him or deport him? Is this an excuse not to chase the case further."
