Ex-IGP links MyWatch chief murder attempt to dirty cops

Former top cop Tan Sri Musa Hassan has linked the attempted murder of crime watchdog MyWatch chief R. Sri Sanjeevan to a recent expose on police personnel with crime syndicate links.

The former inspector-general of police made the claim in his Twitter microblogging account last night, hours after Sanjeevan was critically wounded in a drive-by shooting in Bahau, Negri Sembilan.

“I hope the police will do a thorough investigation to trace the suspect as he (Sanjeevan) had received death threats due to his revelation on police involvement with activities of syndicated crime and illegal activities,” said Musa in his twitter handle @TSMusaHassan.

Police said yesteday Sanjeevan was in his silver-coloured BMW when two men on a red motorcycle approached from the back at an intersection in Taman Awana Indah, Bahau.

The pillion rider drew out a weapon and shot at Sanjeevan, hitting him in the right rib. The gunman then alighted from the motorcycle but the victim sped off.

Sanjeevan is reportedly in stable but critical condition after undergoing surgery at the Kuala Pilah Hospital.

Prior to the incident, Sanjeevan had expected the imminent threat on his life as he had in his tweet tried to alert the current IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on his twitter handle @KBAB51

He had posted on @SanjeevanSS: “A cop told some syndicate fellow that he will get them firearms and told them to fire shots at my house to scare me or my family.”

He had also tagged this tweet posting with Khalid’s and the Royal Malaysian Police force’s twitter handles.

Sanjeevan has been at the forefront of promoting crime prevention and claiming that police crime statistics were incorrect. Musa became his group's adviser just before Election 2013.
MyWatch, or The Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force, rose to prominence after its patron, former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan, made public several serious allegations in a few press conferences and interviews.

Chief among them were that politicians have been interfering with police work and that criminal elements have infiltrated the police force.

MyWatch had also claimed that it has in its possession evidence that top police officers were involved in criminal activities, including money laundering, gambling, prostitution and have direct links with underworld figures and kingpins.
