Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has today expressed the movement’s frustrations at Umno and BN for not listening to its views and hinted that they will go to a group that appreciates them.

Speaking at a press conference after a two-month hiatus following his defeat in the general election, Ibrahim said it seems that the prime minister and deputy prime minister only appreciate pressure groups like Dong Zhong, meeting Christian pastors and signing a memorandum with the Malaysian Hindraf Association.

"There are many demands by other pressure groups which are given much attention. We tried to cooperate with them (Umno and BN) but they take things for granted.

"Other pressure groups can threaten and the government accorded them special attention," he said.

"Have you seen in our meetings where the prime minister or the deputy prime minister will come and officially open them? So in the near future, we will go to the people who love us.

"This is the law of nature. We will continue with the struggle and will support the group that appreciates us."

NONEHe warned that he would not hesitate to highlight the failures by the BN and Umno government directly to the kampung folk.

Ibrahim (right) said if the Malays failed to get scholarships, for example, he would not hesitate and point this out to those in the rural areas.

The vocal leader also said Umno leaders may preach to the people to live modestly, or ask the children to study locally, but yet they do not show such examples when they they live extravagantly and even practice corruption.

"That will be their downfall," he warned, adding that now we have a knowledgeable society who can view such things clearly.

His plans

During the press conference, Ibrahim also announced the formation of four new bureaus including one on improving racial relations and national interests.

Quizzed on his immediate and future plans following his defeat in the election, Ibrahim said he is will still be Perkasa president and jokingly said that he can apply for taxi permits and drive taxis.

"Maybe I can become a petrol pump attendant or work as a waiter," he joked.

Asked on his response over the furor on the amendments to the Administration of Islamic Law (Federal Territories) Act 2013, Ibrahim said as a Muslim the guidance is from the Quran and Hadith and it is our obligation to follow these.

"The most important thing is that we should not politicise the matter and resolve it. I would also like to know PAS’ official stand on this issue," he said, adding that whatever the reply, he hoped it is not made due to political interests.
