Malay Mail tries to cover-up for BN?

Malay Mail tries to cover-up for BN?
In the event Frankie d’Cruz had succeeded in getting his thoughts in order, he may have paused before publishing his ill-written article titled ‘Doing great injustice to bright students’ in the Malay Mails’s online edition of July 16th. Instead it shall bear witness to the degeneration of journalism in Malaysia. It may also serve as useful example to younger children on how not to write an essay.
“Politicians” claims Mr d’Cruz, in his progressively manic article, “are increasingly seen as a burden to society, unable to yield happier citizens”. Naturally, no evidence is offered to support this remarkable claim. One can only assume that it is the collective wisdom of his regular teh-tarik group. For some reason, Mr d’Cruz finds such coffee-shop talk fit for national publication. Nor does he offer any guide on how politicians are supposed to ‘yield’ citizens, happy or otherwise.
This, Mr d’Cruz also says, sounding decidedly political, that the university intake issue “is a complicated issue prone to unhelpful generalities”. Precisely who is he being an apologist for? It is not a complicated issue. Students with 4.0 CGPAs should be given courses of their choice! The intake for public universities should reflect, percentage-wise, the racial makeup of the nation! Period.
Do up the math and see for yourself
In a clear reference to the MIC’s Jaspal Singh, who has demanded that all 4.0 CGPA students be given university places and courses of their choice, Mr d’Cruz goes on to say “such tinder-box issues should not involve stinging empty and meaningless rhetoric”. We will not attempt to correct Mr d’Cruz’s atrocious English. It would simply take too long. And Frankie d’Cruz and his article with its glaring lack of purpose, is not the point here. Mr d’Cruz may have done nothing to aid the cause of education for the Indian poor, but he is quite happy to cavil at the efforts of others.
The fact is that we stand at a unprecedented crossroads in Malaysian history. All persons who care for the country, who are concerned for their fellow Malaysians, must do their best to ensure a better future for us all. Education will ensure that Malaysia has a more productive workforce in the future. Education will make a productive citizen of a child who may otherwise become an outlaw.
It was critical to bring attention to the glaring injustice of this year’s university intake. It was no ‘empty rhetoric’. The arguments put forward by Jaspal Singh, M Kulasegaran, Gan Peng Sieu and others were backed by facts and statistics including that Indians, who make up 8% of the population, were only given 4% of the 41,573 available places. In the unlikely event that Frankie d’Cruz has any understanding of the mathematical sciences, he will know this to be a statistical impossibility.
It is without doubt the sinister hand of ill-considered social engineering that has caused this situation.
It must be remedied immediately.
