Now, lying in Dewan is called 'misunderstanding'

YOURSAY 'The problem with many BN politicians today is that they feel they can say anything, whether right or wrong, and get away with it.'

Apologise publicly over 'racist docs' claim, rep told

your saySenyumUnta: As a wakil rakyat elected by the rakyat, Pinang Tunggal assemblyperson Roslan Saidin shoud be extra careful before accusing three Chinese Malaysian doctors - two from Seberang Jaya and the other from Kepala Batas - of being racist during the recently-concluded Penang state legislative assembly earlier this month.

Why not establish the facts first? What a waste of time and energy for the authorities to investigate just based on hearsay. Are they going to investigate everything just based on hearsay?

Onyourtoes: Put it this way Roslan, even if there are elements of truth in your accusation, you still shouldn't say it was Chinese doctors refusing to treat Malay patients.

That is seditious intending to cause racial hatred. What you need to say was there were certain doctors refusing to treat their patients properly and urged the authorities investigate.

One or two Chinese doctors refusing to treat their Malay patients properly does not mean all Chinese doctors are behaving the same.

Sometimes I encountered one or two Malay racists in my dealing with a government department, but I have never inferred that all Malays in that department are racists.

In fact, you have committed an offence probably as grievous as the blogger couple Alvivi. The authorities should charge you - and deny you bail.

Mohamad Abdul Malik: Let the authorities complete their investigations. As of now, we still do not know the actual situation and it's unfair to jump to conclusion by calling Roslan a liar.

If it is proven that his accusations were indeed unfounded, then action must be taken against him. If it's found to be true, then action must be taken against the doctors concerned.

We are no different if we were to also throw allegations without waiting for the result of the investigations. So let's wait for the outcome.

Yahoo: Roslan says "the problem was brought to me and I have to raise it." Please, Roslan Saidin, bring some evidence before you raise it in the assembly.

Every day, problems are brought to the MPs or assemblypersons, are you going to raise all of them without proof? If all 222 MPs and 576 state representatives do the same, the assemblies will not have time for policy issues.

Survivor: Umno Baru sycophants are only good at spewing rubbish and nonsense. What good can you expect from a party that is made up of self-serving individuals who cannot even hold a candle to those in Standard Six?

These individuals are truly void of substance, let alone qualified to be a minister or deputy.

The Mask: Health Minister S Subramaniam said that if the allegations prove to be true, "the doctors involved should be sacked and their practising licences revoked as they would have violated their Hippocratic Oath for their alleged racist attitude".

But what if the allegations were not true, what action are you going to take against Roslan?

Ferdtan: What is so surprising is that the MMA (Malaysian Medical Association) has not issued any statement to protect its members and/or profession, especially if the allegation is unfounded.

They have to investigate to determine the truth. Where was the MMA president to clear the air, or at least, to defuse the situation as the reputation of doctors is under attack?

If I am a doctor and a member of the MMA, I would stop paying my subscription if they cannot protect me as a member when I am not guilty.

It is ironical that the first objective of the MMA is "to promote and maintain the honour and interest of the profession of medicine." Where were they when their profession was assailed by an Umno leader?

Again, it is sad to ask, is it because those accused are Chinese doctors and therefore they don't matter? Hopefully this is not the case.

Hot Khong: The problem with many BN politicians today is that they feel they can say anything, whether right or wrong, and get away with it.

Normally, liars like them will end up with no credibility left, but yet, people would still vote for them to be their wakil rakyat.

Factnot Fiction: Umno is trying their best to incite racial conflict - if there are nothing to raise, they cook up a story.

I am confident no Malaysian government servant harbour any racial sentiment when serving the public.

Lim Chong Leong: Outright lying in state assembly is now called misunderstanding in Umno's vocabulary. - Malaysiakini
