Perkasa rejects bloggers' apology, demands action

Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has rejected the apology from Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee, saying that the pair should not be let off the hook.

In an Utusan Malaysia report, Ibrahim said that the government should take stern action against the couple according to the existing legal provisions.

"Take legal action first and then let the court decide. If they want to apologise, they can do so in court," he said.

Alvin and Vivian had courted controversy when they posted an image of themselves eating bak kut teh (pork) with a halal logo on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Berita Harian reported that the bloggers also came under fire from both BN and opposition MPs in Parliament.

BN Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin said that there should be no tolerance on matters pertaining to religion as even the Chinese deplore the couple's action.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim also said there should not be any delay in acting against  those who make irresponsible statements against any religion.

BN Kerteh MP Annuar Musa called on all to be responsible as raising sensitive issues would be detrimental to the country.
