Shootings In Penang Pick Up Speed - Why Not Abolish Police Act As Well?

  • BUTTERWORTH: A 19-year-old youth died after being shot thrice while visiting two friends, who were also shot, at Kampung Ujong Batu here.
  • M. Ravindran, who was hit in the abdomen, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Seberang Jaya Hospital following the 10pm incident on Saturday.
  • S. Leenesh, 18, was admitted to the same hospital while A. Sukumar, 51, from Kulim, Kedah received outpatient treatment

This is happening often in Penang. And it has also spilled over from Penang to Perak. People should ask why the underworld is increasing its activities in Penang? The gangs and triads are very active. Other than the usual drugs and prostitution they have also penetrated the construction industry and human trafficking.
By the way the 2000 EO detainees who have been released are not petty thieves or purse snatchers. Many of them are masterminds - the organisers of triad societies and gangs. These are the brains and the taikors. If each of them can go back to their old gangs and reorganise things you will have an explosion of crime in the country. That is what is happening now.
If each one of them can organise five fellows in a gang, that is 10,000 organised criminals out in the streets. It could be more or it could be less. I think it is going to be more.
So the shootings in Penang and Perak will increase.
I have a suggestion. We have abolished the ISA and the EO. Why not we just abolish the Police Act? Then we can just get the Nepali and Indian security guards to cycle around the neighborhood with a torchlight at night? What do you think?  Maybe the Prime Minister's Office will think it is a brilliant idea.
